Acanthoscurria geniculata breeding...

12/06/2000  Recieved a breeding group of Acanthoscurria geniculata (various sizes and sexes) from Arachnocentric. These included a big male (6"+), a big female (slightly smaller than Kuni, 5"+), two males and an unsexed in the 2-3" range. The male will have to be slowed down so that Kuni and the new female can catch up in size before he matures.
01/02/2001  Small male (#2) molted.
01/15/2001  Unsexed geniculata molted.
01/22/2001  Small male (#3) molted.
03/23/2001  Kuni (female #1) molted.
04/01/2001  Big Edna (female #2) molted.
06/01/2001  Stanley (big male) molted into a mature male! He's huge, and will be bred with the two females as soon as he produces a sperm web.
07/25/2001  I've mated Stanley with both females over the past several weeks, and plan to do some more matings. Mating was fairly straightforward, though the male would have to make a whole bunch of approaches and attempts before he could succeed to lift the female up. The females did most of the drumming, and some stridulation was involved. I may post pictures if I get time.
