The Grinch (Brachypelma vagans)...

Well, she wouldn't come out of the hide when I got my camera out, but at least you can see why they're called red-rump.

You can't see it much here, but she's finishing up a cricket.

Here she is in her burrow, eating a cricket.

Here you can see her whole burrow. She's added on since this picture's been taken. Notice the cricket in the upper right contemplating its doom.

She really abused her shed skin before I got my hands on it.

Pictures don't usually caputure this species well. She's a VERY velvety black color with a pink and cream carapace, and the long hairs on her abdomen are a rich red color.

Another picture that doesn't look quite right. Her carapace is more black now, and she's even more velvety than before.

She's nearly full grown now.
